Spooky Spider Web

Put a paper plate in a pie pan and give your child a small dab of black paint. You can also paint a paper plate black and do the activity with the white paint to look more realistic. After the small dab of paint is placed on the student'' plate, drop a marble in and let the child move the pie pan in all different directions to make a spooky spider web. After it has dried, punch a hole in the plate and attach a plastic spider ring or sponge paint a spider in the web.
October -Halloween Toddler Activities
Gooey Ghosts

Have your child draw a ghost outline on a piece of wax paper, and then fill in the outline with white school glue. Dry overnight, and add facial features. Place on a string and you have a spooky ghost necklace.
Paper Sack Pumpkin

Have the children crumple up newspaper and stuff their paper bags so they are 1/2 full. Twist the un-stuffed part of the bag and tie at the bottom to make a stem. Let the children paint their pumpkins. When they are dry, the children can draw faces on them.

Pumpkin Pie

Cut pie shapes out of orange construction paper. Set out small containers of powdered cinnamon and ginger and place a few whole cloves In a paper cup for each child. Have the children brush glue on their pie shapes. Then let them sprinkle the spices over the glue to create "pumpkin pies."
BED BUGS

4 green apples
1 cup of chunky peanut butter
1/2 cup of chopped peanuts (optional)
1/2 cup of rice Krispies
1/4 cup of raisins

Cut the apples into quarters and remove the core, leaving it hollow for the filling. Mix the peanut butter, chopped peanuts, cereal and raisins. Spoon them into the apple hollows. Looks like bugs, but kids just love it.


BLACK CAT COOKIES

1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/3 cup water
2 eggs
1 package chocolate cake mix
M & M's (plain)
Red hots

Beat together peanut butter, eggs, and water. Gradually add cake mix. Mix well. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie
sheet. Flatten balls with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Pinch out 2
ears at top of cookie. Add M & M's (eyes) and red hots (nose). Press
fork into dough to form whiskers. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 4-1/2 dozen.


BUMBLE BEE COSTUME

Wear a black bodysuit and black tights underneath.
Glue yellow pom-poms onto black shoes.
Buy some store-bought angel wings and add silver glitter.
Tuck your hair into a black hair net. For the bee's antennae, just attach
two yellow pipe cleaners to a hairband


CAT COSTUME

Parental supervision is recommended.
Cardboard
Construction paper (to match color of turtleneck and leggings)
Plastic headband
Pencil (to draw cat ear patterns with)
Scissors
Tacky glue
Socks
Large safety pins
Craft paint or markers, optional
Face paints
Dark turtleneck
Dark leggings

Draw cat ears on the cardboard. Cut out the ears. Cover with construction paper using glue. Attach the ears to the plastic headband. Make a tail out of stuffed looong socks (sports socks from husband work well), safety pin to the seat of the leggings. If you use white socks, you can use some old craft paint or markers to color it same color as outfit. Draw cat whiskers on face and color the nose dark.


CONSTRUCTION WORKER COSTUME

Hard hat, childrens toolbelt and tools, white teeshirt,
carpentar jeans, Children measuring tape
Dress your child in a white tee-shirt and jeans. Then add the hard hat,
toolbelt and tools.
Comments: This is a really cute and easy costume. If you have a boy you
probably have these items around your house. If you are on a budget
this is perfect. If you don't have a hard hat or tools you might find them
at a doller store.


CREEPY TABLE CENTER PIECE

Create creepy centerpieces by filling vases with dead flowers, brown
leaves, and empty branches. Tie a black ribbon bow around each
centerpiece.


DIRT PUDDING

Instant chocolate pudding
Chocolate wafer cookies
Gummi worms
Wooden spoon
A cup or a new, medium-size plastic flower pot
Aluminum foil
Plastic flower

Make the instant pudding according to the instructions on the box. Crush chocolate cookies into small bits using the back of a spoon. Stir most of the crushed cookies into the pudding, mixing well.
If you are using a new, clean flower pot, line the bottom with heavyduty aluminum foil. Pour the pudding into the flower pot, then stick the fake flower into the pudding to make it look real. Sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs and a few Gummi worms over the top of the pudding.


Pumpkin Teeth Counting Game

Cut pumpkin shapes out of orange felt. On each pumpkin draw a single jack o lantern face with a large smile but no teeth. Number the pumpkins from 1 to 5. Cut 15 tooth shapes out of white felt. Place the pumpkins on a flannelboard. Have your children take turns identifying the numbers on the pumpkins and placing the appropriate number of teeth in each pumpkin's mouth.


Pumpkin Matching

Draw the outline of a pumpkin on each of 12 index cards. Divide the cards into six pairs. Draw different jack o lantern faces on each pair of cards. Mix up the cards and let your kids take turns finding the pumpkins with matching faces.


Moving to Halloween Music

Play Halloween music and let your children try out different 'halloween moves'. For example, have them fly like bats or owls, roll like pumpkins, crawl like spiders, or prowl like cats. Let the kids take turns being the leader of the 'halloween moves to music.'
